Last August I acquired my first plantβ a snake plantβ when my room had little light due to having the curtains closed for privacy in my ground-floor room. I’ve since been slowly acquiring grow lights and more plants, (as well as a bright sunlight lamp for my mood), and acquiring the knowledge needed to look after all these plants! It is immensely satisfying to do this, and these plants are really boosting the atmosphere in the room where I currently spend most of my time.
It is my aim to live amongst plants, to create an indoor jungle with palms swooping overhead, vines trailing from shelves and a profusion of colour spread throughout!

I’m currently becoming inundated by about 20 chilli plants as I seeded a bunch of them in a propagator around a month ago. I put around 5 seeds each into 12 pots just to hedge my bets in case I wasn’t very successful in germinating them. It turned out I was very successful, and they seemingly all germinated! I’ve been pulling up surplus seedlings as they endlessly sprout π. Each chilli plant should grow to around a metre tall so I’ll probably have to move them outside in the summer :D. I also probably don’t need anywhere near that many chillies, but I just wanted to be sure π .
I have further plans to expand my vertical plant city in here, and would like to collect some mini plants like aloe cactus plants and cacti.
P.S. it’s not as dark in my room as it looks in these picturesβ those lights are just very bright!

No way!!!
I LITERALLY just commented on another post of yours saying we need a plant update – I hop over to the reader and here you’ve done one not 4 hours ago!
I nshould have known you’d have it in hand! π
Plants look fab π Brilliant set up. I love the golden flame snake plant. Those colours are amazing! β€οΈ
And I love the fact you have a couple of ‘moody’ plants in there too – that description made me laugh out loud! ππ€π€

πππ. Hahaha that really must’ve been freaky especially considering my lack of posting! This post went down a storm lol.
Yes the golden flame plant is one of my favourites too! There are some amazing plants out there, little heard of but available on amazon :D. Amazing to be able to get them in the post. The grow lights are the key to being able to grow all these colourful tropical ones indoors :D. And yes I’m really pleased with what I’ve managed to fit into here, and how much you can transform a room. Thanks!
π€£π€£π€£. My local friend made me give them names, she went with me to the garden centre when I got Margarita. I have 4 nameless ones now though but she hasn’t complained yet π.

It really was bizarre!! Some kind of strange karmic connection was going on there I think! π€π
Oooh – I hadn’t realised you could get plants through the post! What a curious thing. I’ll definitely be looking up the golden flame π
Sure you’ll come up with names for the nameless come time too! ππ€

Oh my goodness! That is AMAZING! Well done! I absolutely love them!
I would also love to live in a plant inhabited room π
You’ve inspired me to get my butt to the nursery in the coming weeks and start my own ‘green treasure trove’ in my house π
Great post β€

Oh wow, thank you Megan!! I’ve been wanting to share for a while but I finally just went and did it, very glad I did! That’s so cool that it’s helped inspire you to start your own. All that bright South African sunlight π.
Thanks! π

We’re heading into Winter now, but we still see plenty of Winter sun, so yes… it’s a plant advantage π

You have turned into a real budding horticulturalist it seems. Good to hear. I wouldn’t waste too much time not giving those poor little nameless ones a name though. You wouldn’t want them to sulk and fade away on you. Imagine how you would feel? I’m a little concerned about the Devils Ivy though. Don’t want it entwining you and leading you astray.
Little Charmer will support me in all this. Won’t you LC?
