Fiction, Poem 1 Minute

Grandad’s commemoration speech in full:

“Be the change you want in the sea”,

That’s why I became a whale,
And moved to Europa,

I wanted to advocate for the rights of whales,
And demonstrate here, what they are capable of;

On Europa,
Whales may engage in 3d chess,
May indulge in mass symphonies of soulful echoes,
And, free to express our creativity in peace,
We perpetuate epic stories and legends,
Through our poetry, fiction and historical retellings;

It is my belief,
That whales have the providence and consistency of purpose required,
Spanning the gulfs of time as the depths of our oceans,
To achieve an interstellar voyage to reach the nearby stars,
Before this decade is out;

Whales on Europa,
With these freedoms which we pass on to our descendants,
We call out to the stars,
In harmony and to eternity.

I write poems which are mental health-themed, creative or humourous :). Within mental health I write a lot about: ADHD, OCD, anxiety, autism, emotional traumaβ€” usually with an optimistic slant.       It’s definitely helped enormously with that housemate being away, and being back to using the night. It’s all crucial for my creativity. I just long to see where I can go under normal living conditions. It’s just a shame that this gets destroyed by these external forces. At the same time, it did provide inspiration to branch out into other themes at times, but the OCD etc really suffers.

      That’s a big reason why I’m going to keep pushing for having a place to myself, before even thinking about things like jobs later on. Writing works for me, and I want to explore it more!

      Another thing is that I’ve done more than one draft of the last 3 poems. I’ve now humbled myself into realising that holding back from publishing helps, especially with creative things where there’s no urgency to get it out!

      I am surprised though at how much inspiration there’s been on this particular theme all of a sudden!
