I managed to sniff CroΓ»ton! I’ve always loved smelling cute animals π, but from the beginning with CroΓ»ton I knew this would be a long shot. From the initial days of her disdainfully recoiling from the slightest smell of my fingers, to resting a paw on my finger to get a treat, to resting on my palm to eventually letting me gingerly pick her up and hold her for 20 secs, I’d always imagined that the moment I dared raise her to my face to sniff her she’d be like:
See!
I knew it
I knew you were going to eat me!
I was never to trust you and I’ve been proven right
You’ve fattened up my round little body
And now it is time
So long
Goodbye cruel Earthβ¦
But when it came to it she wasn’t like that at all.
And guess what? She didn’t even smell of wee or anything, she just smelled as cute as I had imagined her to. If a smell can be cute, there are three examples which fulfil this description:
- Smell of a baby
- Smell of the top of a dog’s head between the ears
- Smell of a hamster
And I was vindicated in my long-held view that Misty had smelled of “freshly cleaned-out hamsters”. She was hypo-allergenic and odourless! Most of the time. The ridiculously cute dog.
Hamsters are just ridiculously clean animals. Syrian hamsters have been domesticated for less than 100 years so they were actually made like this from the start. Hamsters were made to be sniffed.

My kitties smell good too. I bury my face in their fur.
