Red, Tooth, Claw

It came in the Spring,
As they emerged from hibernation,
Favouring those in the South,
As they entered the long sleep,

They woke up to
Global devastation,
Spreading from the Northern hemisphere,
Taking maximum life;

Planet-wide winter,
Whittled things down further,
But the rodents escaped and took the new world,
For the whole process,
To repeat again.

    1. Thanks Cassa! I read a really interesting article yesterday about a fossil site which has been explored the last couple of years, which captures the actual end-cretacious extinction impact event. Dead fish piled in-land from resulting shockwaves, covered in molten rock spheres which fell out of the sky. Just overwhelmingly profound and interesting.
