When they are marched through the gates of Hellβ¦
Down into the deepest recesses of nothingness like some terminal mystery tour they didn’t volunteer for,
With the Earth they once knew so, so far aboveβ¦so out of reach,
I wonder if they’ll regret it?
I wonder if they’ll look back over their shoulder, and thinkβ
Damn, maybe I was the abuser after all
I doubt it.
But I thought I was going to Heavenβ¦

My daughter accused me of abuse. It haunted me for years that maybe I *had* abused her. I’m kinda more settled about it now because way after I was out of the picture, she accused other people of abusing her. She is a serial abusee.

That’s an interesting perspective! I can imagine that would be really haunting yeah.
Yeah it’s a word you’ve got to be careful with. I feel uncomfortable with using it in some situations because abuse can be unintentional and a result of personality traits and lack of self-awareness, even though the effects can be just as bad. My letting agent/landlord situation was a clear example of abuse. Other times other people used the word ‘abuse’ for a situation I described, where I felt uncomfortable with using it. If other people are using that word though, you have more confidence with using it and it’s a good sign.
You’ve got to play devil’s advocate with yourself and eliminate other possibilities, which is typically what makes abusers abusiveβ they’re not able to do that haha.
People who are abused are usually the opposite end of that scaleβ overly self-critical.

I think that’s true of a lot of things, the self doubt. How often do we doubt out framework of beliefs? Or our politics? Every day, hopefully. It would be conceited to act any other way.

Yes indeed I think about these all the time.

And the onus is so much on the person describing the situation to describe it fairly. You can so easily get others to agree with a situation being abusive when they’re relying on your description. I always err on the side of caution and if others are still telling me I’ve been abused, then that’s useful!

funny you should say that. Daughter used to write on Facebook, “mum and dad are bastards” and get waves of sympathy from the thousand “friends” she had never even met. Little did they know what actually happened.

Wow yeah on facebook is not a good way to deal with it to begin with, much less writing such brief and evocative things like that. The brevity and competitiveness of social media can destroy relationships π©.

The abusers fit to be in hell…pain is pleasure for them.

Lol, perhaps! But then their hell will be opposite of that, by definition π.
In my letting agent/landlord’s hell all tenants will have their own locks and keys, with 24 hour surveillance and guard dogsβ¦and use the electricity and heating 24/7 with the windows openβ¦π
And when they try to move their limbs or shout to complain it will be like in a dream moving through honey and stifled screamsβ¦π
