The Salvation Army guy who’s now helping me (he’s really on the ball!) is getting in touch with the council urgently to get the letting agent to stop this, as they’re not following the legal procedures which the council is relying on them to do, to buy me more time:

Haha. Nah just trying to intimidate as usual. I’m sure they actually find it a total surprise there are laws for this stuff. It wouldn’t make sense for them to say that after I changed the lock anyway.
