Supporting A Person

I’ve learned some things,
About supporting somebody;

When they want advice,
Give it,

When they don’t,
Support them in their decisions,
Help them to see it through;

Help them to make the best of their situation,
No matter what it is and on their terms,
Whilst simply being a friend;

The best thing you can give is unconditional support,
Which is exceedingly rare and as valuable as pure gold.

  1. This is so true.

    I find that my boyfriend and I avoid potential arguments when I say up front when I DON”T want problem solving and just want him to listen/give emotional support lol. Because I’ve probably already analyzed all of the courses of action and potential outcomes anyway >_< lol

    1. Haha! Same with me in that I’ve usually already been through all scenarios in my mind. Most of the time I do want problem-solving, but rarely someone has another solution that I haven’t already realised doesn’t work 😏.

      It’s much harder to listen and not be able to help with the problem for sure, since my problem-solving skills are actually really good. Sometimes optimism isn’t enough or appropriate.
