But it was the foreboding red light of a nearby flaring sun,
Giving temporary life and respite to a darkened, dormant world;
Like the temperamental star which birthed it,
The new ecosystem could not last, as,
Brightening over a short time-scale before gradually dimming,
The ageing sun exploded, rendering the home system permanently hostile;
Its scarred face
freshly irradiated,
The wandering moon must wander once more,
Chasing interstellar visitors across the skies,
Primordial breadcrumb trails, leading toβ¦
No one knew,
Until they’d been there.

π. Well I got an eviction notice as expected, along with all the other housemates, since the landlord decided to take the house off the rent guarantee scheme. We got 4 months’ notice. I’m working with the helpful person at the council and the salvation army to hopefully arrange things so I can just get moved into my place at the end of thatβ rather than having to move to another shared house then again to my own place eventually.
The council arranged for a mental health nurse to visit me, which the salvation army person accompanied her with. Thankfully she was fully understanding of the effect from the environment and in total agreement with how much I would benefit from having my own place, so is writing that in a letter to the council. Should help me a lot. I’m really resisting people starting to suggest that waiting until my 35th birthday would be an acceptable worst case, since my 34th birthday is this month. It would be inconceivable.
Anyway I also managed to make ‘progress’ with PIP too since I received their 3rd copy of my disallowance letter finally, along with their full report. They really focused on the fact that my 2:1 degree in astrophysics really contradicts my case π. I met with the benefits advisor who submitted the mandatory reconsideration (which was 3 months’ late due to me not receiving the first letters!). Then we will go to tribunal :).
I need either PIP or the council to give me the exemption to the age limit to be able to get my own place, but it’s looking promising now :).

Well, it certainly does sound promising! I’m so glad you’re finnaly getting people (who really have stepped up before now) to fight your corner.
Sure it’ll take time but it will all work out. And you’ve got us to keep you entertained until then! πππ€

Thank you! π yeah main thing for me is actually having this process to follow and things in progress :), rather than nothing like before. It was only the harassment that triggered it weirdly which is entirely separate.

This invoked memories of my love of sci-fi when I was a teenager, those mysterious emotions and wonder.

Yes!! That’s indeed where it came from, and the romance of simultaneously using my telescope on dark clear nights and following space missions, picturing myself on other worlds. I was a teenager then too. It was an intoxicating combination. Thanks for the comment and encouragement! Cool you could relate π.

Arthur C Clarke’s style was perfect for me. Also I liked the transcendental feeling of Stephen Baxter’s novels.
