Autism, Poem 1 Minute

The history of autism is tragic,
Full of many stories of struggle and misunderstanding,
(At all levels),

And many stories of struggling to get access to services,
Diagnostic criteria expanded in order to make these services available to the people who needed them but were denied time and again by the rigid criteria and centralised bureaucracy of modern life,

So if there’s one thing I’ve learned,
It’s that I’m not alone.

I write poems which are mental health-themed, creative or humourous :). Within mental health I write a lot about: ADHD, OCD, anxiety, autism, emotional traumaโ€” usually with an optimistic slant. My goals for my blog are to give myself a therapeutic, creative outlet whilst also being able to connect with and relate to other people.
