Wow

If anyone’s up for having an audio call, please let me knowβ€” I’ve just witnessed something really disturbing, sporting-related (motorsport), and my mind’s going a million miles an hour.

Really wasn’t the best timing to watch this race in the middle of the night with nobody awake πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ (I woke up just a couple of hours before). My nerves are absolutely jittery.

The person/people involved are OK, but I’ve just witnessed an absolute miracle of… indescribable proportions. I’m simultaneously relieved, impressed (at the safety technologies), sickened, horrified, and just plain overwhelmed and mystified. Watching him jump out of the flaming twisted wreckage was like watching a person reborn, given another chance at life and well aware of that fact. Because that’s what it was.

The driver has a family, kids, he’s only got 2 more races left and I know for a fact he’ll never get in a racing car again. I saw him in the medical car afterwards, physically OK with tears streaming down his face. Unbelievable.

I knew something big was going to happen because I saw the length of the program. But it’s far beyond what I could’ve imagined, in an already-crazy season, and it happened right away.

All I can do is watch the rest of it, hoping that’ll help to relieve me. All I’m seeing for now is hundreds more horrified and mystified faces showing all the same emotions πŸ˜†. And I’m praying that the rest of it goes smoothly. I’m just shaken.

Well, love to everybody πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™.

OK now, calmed down.

  1. I agree, it was shocking to see. I’d watched the beginning of the race last night, but went to bed before this awful accident happened.
I saw it this morning though, and oh, how frightening it was, with the vehicle totally ablaze, and the driver still in the car.
The safety team were working hard, and it was a beautiful moment when the driver emerged and stepped away from possible death.
Then there was footage of the driver with bandages all over his hands, but alive.
