Origins 3

We had once thought we were born into a privileged existence,
That we had been at the centre of it all,
That there must’ve been something unique about our place in space and time,
In order for the wonderful us to appear,

But in actuality we were born into a corner of the dusty old back-garden shed,
And when we looked up…
We saw that cosmic spiders had been busy since long before us,
Lacing strands of entire dusty galaxies of stars across the voids,
Weaving the cosmic webs of infinite abundance and possibility,
Scattering across the billions of light-years the seeds of their progeny,
With devastatingly-epic spans of time in which to do so.
