Yes, ego,
I know you want to be allowed to speak and to control again,
But how did we get here in the first place?
βThrough listening to you!
So yes, it feels uncomfortable now to let the control go,
And to let those thoughts go when we’ve invested so much already today,
But that is how the process works on all scales;
For once, I decoupled from listening so intently to you for thirty minutes,
And it was very re-englightening;
(But I just wish that I’d got around to not judging the moment earlierβ¦
And there’d be more of them left!)
But that’s not to say that I’m abandoning you!
Far from it;
I still need you there to tell me when I’m hungry,
And other essential things,
Or to discuss interesting ideas and thoughts sometimes π,
Such as this;
Fair point.
πͺ
Sometimes what helps me let go of my ego is realizing that its chatter in my head isn’t me. I’m the observer. The one who decides what to give my attention and energy to.

Thanks Natalie! Yesβ¦unfortunately all the insight in the world has been mostly overridden by my anxious habits, anyway. But I watched an Eckhart Tolle video earlier, and his talks do have a genuinely calming effect on me. And since then, this morning, I’ve had a lot more control over it :). I’ve had more control of my brain to put these ideas into practice. Thank you for the reminder! π
