The Hopeful Delusion

I had an encouraging conversation,
With a mental health person,

I’d met her at the mental health hospital in November,
During an acute crisis period,

And since the police contacted the hospital,
(This is pretty raw stuff ๐Ÿ˜†),
She’s been back in touch, including by email!

She is joint-best, if not the best,
Amongst the mental health professionals I’ve encountered,

(And you don’t even want to know what lies at the other endโ€”
With potential scenarios from which there’d be no escape);

She’s working with me, communicating efficientlyโ€”
Setting up the phone calls with short emails,
And thus,
With a time and place, I can be prepared,

And she’s agreed with my idea,
Of writing to the council,
“Get this man in his own fucking place away from those awful, awful fucking housemates!”,

I swear that’s how she phrased it,
She’s on my side,
And she’d said I could email her,
At any time ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

All of this means the world,
In this difficult situation,
And though, as ever, I can’t afford to hold my breath,
It makes it awfully easy to maintain the hopeful delusion!

She didn’t actually use those wordsโ€” that was just another hopeful delusion ๐Ÿ˜‰.

    1. She didn’t actually! ๐Ÿ˜†. I’m really bad for totally deadpan sarcasm, lol. Especially because I use it so rarely, it’s so hard for people to pick up on it. Usually I make it more obvious by making it more absurd.

      Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜„

      1. Hahaha! ๐Ÿ˜†. Funny, since I never get sarcasm from other people, which they too often take advantage of! I try to keep it obviously absurd though!

Thanks Margie :). Yeah I always like to end with something positive ๐Ÿ™‚.

    1. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚. It’s really encouraging to have somebody within the health field on my side about the living situation! She really understood and was offering thoughts of how it would be affecting me without me saying, too.
