Nae Spring

And so we’ve gone, once again,
Straight from mid-winter into mid-summer,

Only one week ago,
The car windows were iced,

Now everything’s blooming,
And it’s t-shirt weather;

This strange annual weather,
Of Southern England…
Whilst up there in Scotland,
The seasons go like this:

Shite,
Shite,
Summer,
Shite,

And I know where I’d rather be,
(Scotland).

First day of my Scottish road trip, start of September 2017. Trying to look out of my car window at the first stop.

    1. Me too 🙂. You must especially love it though being in Australia and after the fires!

      I love driving in rain!

  1. Scotland is a great place to be.
    That is some rainstorm.
I remember the last time we were there, it rained most of the time.
    Good thing I like rain.

    1. Hahaha!

The rest of the trip was ok, it was mainly just the first day that was rainy, but it was really heavy rain for a lot of that day! Some great memories of joking with my friend about how satisfied we were to be inside a car, whilst driving past people on touring bikes who were almost stationary 😆. My friend’s the type of person who hates going outside lol.

      1. Yeah, if you are on a touring bike, that kind of rain is not your friend, LOL
So you were there with someone who hated going outside.
        How did that work out?
You are up late, guess you are re-setting your clock, huh?

      2. Yeah it was bad enough in the car! It was really crazy rain and wind lol, had to go so slow at times. But I was loving it :D. It was so funny that we had such bad weather on the first day.

Well it was perfect driving round with that friend actually! Because of my knee problems, I wanted to do a lot of driving. And when we stopped I could only go where I could get to using my folding bike, and staying on level ground. Which was all fine with him! But I still managed to see a lot away from the road! Including going down about 200 steps, down from a cliff to some caves— using my crutches! 😄.

Yep! Lol. Although I’ll be up at this time normally from now on anyway 🙂. I’ve just decided I should use the night-time hours to learn how to make bread.

      3. The back roads there are so narrow and driving in a heavy rain with touring bikes on the road also can be quite hazardous!
You have some great memories of driving in the rain though, that is nice.

Glad it worked out so good with your friend.
Wow, that was amazing you went down that many steps with your crutches and to the caves,

        Bread making sounds great!
I love bread more than I love cake. LOL

      4. I’m going to watch Apollo 13 now! Margie, you must listen to 13 Minutes To The Moon podcast, season 2!! If you’re looking for something to do. It’s absolutely the best thing I’ve ever listened to, it’s mesmorising and truly inspiring.

    1. 😄. I’ll see more thunder storms this summer, now I’m in Southern England, compared to Scotland. I love them too! Haha.

      1. LOL. But you said 10C was amazing weather Lol 😆.

We should swap then, cos I’m sitting indoors sweating! It’s unnaturally hot already 😆.

I’ll adopt your bench, and throw the windchime in the lake 😁😉.

      1. Hahaha! I was only in a choir for the last year of my stable period there, and I WAS starting to learn them. One or two of our choir songs were traditional Scottish songs! Such as … well I can’t remember the name now, but I knew one really well!!!

And besides that, I was hanging out with lots of older Scottish folk, who were reacting as you are to my lack of culturedness and were beginning to indoctrinate me!! 😆

      2. By the way, thank you so much for that song recommendation— I’ve just found possibly the most relaxing music every through searching for ‘the bonnie banks of loch lomond’ in Spotify!

Essential Scotland Vol.17 playlist. Wait, 17!!!??? Oh my god, what a treasure trove!!!

      3. Also something you have to know about me, is that I only hatched yesterday (this is how a Scottish colleague once described me down the pub, when I worked in a company).
