End Of Lockdown

We’ve been in lockdown, for almost a year nowβ€”
We thought we had it bad,
But then the government supplies stopped,

We tried to help our neighbours out,
Whilst there were still seeds of cooperation,
But ultimately the pockets of desperation,
Unfortunately won out;

There’s not much to live for in these days,
The cost of survival, is simply too great,

Physically, emotionally,
It wears you down terribly,

And I only keep going,
In the hopes of recording it;

At least if I can record these events,
Perhaps my life will have had some meaning,
Perhaps, I could eventually forgive myself,
For all of the killing,

But let’s not be fools here,
Nobody wished for this,
We just weren’t prepared for that day,
When the metal giraffes appeared;

Still nobody knows where they came from,
Although their appearance was linked,
To an atmospheric explosion, high over central London,

Around 100 megatons,
The fallout was phenomenal,
Millions of dead and a country defeated;

And now here they are,
Metal giraffes stalk us,
They’ve reached North America,
Only God can help us πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

      1. Apparently it takes a lot less than a publicly-broadcasted horror story. You just have to run out of toilet paper 😨.
