A Broomstick And A Mop

How do I write a poem,
About a broomstick and a mop?

I don’t know,
โ€”I’m about to find out!

For I also had the need,
For these two vital things,
And as the Daddy in the house,
It’s fallen unto me,

And as a hater of anything plasticky,
(Hey,
This was before it was cool,
To hate plastic and misogyny),
Erm,
I thought I’d find ones made of wood;

So, apparently,
There’s such a thing as a ‘standard handle’,
Much like how, in astronomy,
We have a ‘standard candle’;

Now the standard handle,
Can be used for all sorts of things:
Broomstick,
Shovel,
Mop,
Wardrobe rail,
Fighting stick,
Window pole,
Walking stick,
Curtain rail,
โ€”All kinds of things,
What a beast!

That’s the kind of solution I love,
โ€”It wins in all areas:
Durability,
Practicality,
Cost,
Modularity,
Aesthetics,
Repairability,

So I ordered a pack of handles,
A broom- and a mop-head,
I bought a packet of screws,
And a well-reviewed mop-bucket;

This was the story,
Of the broomstick and the mop…
